Many do unfortunately, which is why I decided to go into the field of special education consulting and advocacy after being a volunteer CHADD and LDA Coordinator for almost four years. There is simply an unbelievable need by parents of disabled children for affordable and adequately trained private lay advocates to help disabled children in GA and Nationwide in IEP meetings and with special education school issues. Families of disabled children need help to understand the laws that apply to their children!
Presently I am working on cases with primarily AD/HD, Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia, Speech and Language Disorders, Apraxia, Sensory Integration Disorder, Aspergers, PDD-NOS, Autism, Non-verbal LD, Bipolar and co-morbid mental health and neurological issues since these are my personal areas of expertise. Raising two children with multiple neurological disabilities and dealing with our own school issues has afforded me the opportunity to learn and navigate the special education system and disability laws that apply. It has certainly been a challenging and frustrating experience, which I hope to change for others.
> Every minute a disabled child spends without appropriate services, remediation and interventions is lost time and education that becomes more difficult to recover. Let me help you gain control of your child's education by cutting through the special education jargon and red tape!!
